Summary of "Shrines and Temples of Nikko"

In the 23rd world heritage committee meeting held in Moroccan marakesshu on 2nd in December, 1999 (Heisei 11), "Shrines and Temples of Nikko" was registered with world heritage.

Contents of "Shrines and Temples of Nikko" enrolled in world heritage are "remains" (cultural scenery) surrounding Futarasan shrine, Toshogu in Nikko Sannai, 103 (nine national treasures, important cultural property 94) "building group" of Rinnoji temple and these buildings group.

  • The location: Nikko-shi, Tochigi
  • Range of registration inheritance: We consist of remains surrounding two one temples (Futarasan shrine, Toshogu, Rinnoji temple) and these buildings group, and nine national treasures, 103 buildings group of 94 important cultural properties in total are included in that.
